What is MobilePay?
MobilePay is a digital wallet that works in a similar way to Apple Pay and Google Pay. Rather than entering card details manually, shoppers pay through the MobilePay app with a single confirmation.
☝️ It is one of the most widely used online payment methods in Finland and a familiar choice for Finnish shoppers. For online stores targeting a Finnish audience, MobilePay is an essential payment method.
Availability and setup
MobilePay is included by default in Montonio’s Starter and Core plans, with no additional setup required. Merchants do not need to sign a separate agreement with MobilePay directly. Access is fully managed by Montonio as part of the card payments offering.

If you sign up for Montonio Starter or Core pricing plans, card payments, including Mobile Pay, are activated automatically. No additional action is required.
If you sign up for Montonio Core Flex, you need to activate the card payments service in the Partner system. Once activated, it is important to activate the Mobile Pay payment method in your platform settings to make it available to your customers.

When does MobilePay appear in the checkout?
MobilePay is only shown to shoppers who are likely to use it. Montonio automatically evaluates relevant store and shopper details, such as the store’s country, customer billing country, and other available information, to determine whether MobilePay should be displayed. No manual configuration is needed — stores that do not serve the Finnish market will not see MobilePay as a payment option at checkout.
Processing MobilePay
From a payment processing perspective, MobilePay works just like a card payment. When a shopper selects MobilePay in the checkout, they are redirected to complete the payment in the MobilePay app before returning to the store.
Refunds, fees, and payouts all follow the same logic as card payments. There is no separate payout cycle or fee structure for MobilePay. And MobilePay transactions are paid out as part of the regular card payments payout.
The available payout options include daily (with a 2-day buffer applied), weekly, and monthly schedules. More details about payout frequency can be found here:
Reporting
MobilePay transactions are visible in the Partner System and can be filtered by payment method in the Orders page.
MobilePay transactions are visible in the Partner System alongside all other payment methods in the Orders page. You can filter transactions by payment method to view MobilePay orders specifically, and export the filtered data to Excel for further analysis or record-keeping.
