Receiving payouts in both PLN and EUR

Learn how to set up your store to accept payments in both EUR and PLN as a Baltic merchant.

Written by Ieva

If your store sells in both Poland and other markets, you may receive orders in PLN and EUR. This article explains how payouts work in this case, and when you might need a second bank account (IBAN).

How payouts work, by payment method

Bank payments (PIS)

If you're a Baltic merchant and want to accept bank payments from Polish customers, you need a Polish bank account. Multi-currency accounts are not supported for this payment method — without a Polish account, your Polish customers won't be able to pay by bank transfer. Only one bank account can be configured for this payment method.

BLIK

If you want to accept BLIK payments, you can use a multi-currency bank account, as long as it's able to receive PLN. Funds are always sent to the single IBAN assigned to your store in the Partner System (PS). BLIK doesn't support splitting payouts across two accounts.

How to check which currencies are enabled for your bank account

  • Log in to your account in the Montonio Partner System.

  • In the left-hand menu, click Business Settings → Stores to view your list of stores.

  • Click on the name of the store for which you want to update the IBAN.

  • On the right-hand side, locate the Bank Details section and click Edit.

  • Under Currencies, expand the list and check whether PLN is selected.

  • If PLN is not enabled, select it and click Save Settings.

⚠️ If you choose to use a multicurrency account for your store in order to accept BLIK, bank payments will not be available, as this payment method supports only Polish bank accounts.

Card payments

By default, card payouts also go to your store's IBAN. However, in PS you can assign two currencies (PLN and EUR) to that same IBAN, if your account supports both. In that case, no second account is needed — one IBAN handles both currencies.

Do I need one IBAN or two?

It depends on your bank account:

  • If your IBAN supports both PLN and EUR (some banks offer multi-currency accounts), you only need one account. No extra setup is needed — just make sure both currencies are enabled on your account with us.

  • If your IBAN only supports one currency (for example, a standard Polish account that only accepts PLN, or a Baltic account that only accepts EUR), you'll need two separate bank accounts: one for PLN payouts and one for EUR payouts.

We don't convert currencies during payout. This means PLN orders are always paid out in PLN, and EUR orders in EUR — to whichever account is set up to receive that currency.

Using two separate IBANs (one for PLN, one for EUR)

This is only available for card payments. If your single IBAN can't support both currencies, you can set up a second IBAN so that card payouts split correctly — one account for PLN, one for EUR.

This isn't a self-serve setting in PS yet, so if you need it, please contact our support team with:

  • Both IBANs

  • The account holder name for each (must match your registered business name)

  • Which currency each account should be used for (PLN or EUR)

Our developers will need to configure this manually on our side.

Note: For EUR accounts, we verify that the account holder name matches the IBAN before enabling it (Verification of Payee). If these don't match, we won't be able to activate the account until this is resolved.

Bank payments and BLIK: only one IBAN per store

Unlike card payments, bank payments (PIS) and BLIK cannot use separate IBANs for PLN and EUR within the same store. A single IBAN must be assigned for these payment methods in PS, and that account must support the currency in which funds are settled.

If you would like to offer BLIK to Polish customers and settle funds to a PLN or multi-currency bank account, the recommended approach is to set up a separate store with its own bank account. Please note that this would also require a separate set of API keys for that store integration.

BLIK payouts to non-PL accounts

We recommend using a Polish (PL) IBAN for BLIK payouts. If you use a non-Polish account (even one that technically accepts PLN), your payout is processed as a cross-border transfer, which may carry an additional fee. Using a PL IBAN avoids this fee entirely.
