Sandbox API keys let you test our solutions in a safe environment without processing real transactions or creating real shipments. This article shows you where to find them, whether you're setting up a new store or already have one active.
To access Sandbox API keys, you need to create an account in the Montonio Partner System. To create an account, follow this guide: How to get started with Montonio.
Live API keys become available once your account and store are activated.
Where can I find Sandbox API keys?
New business account (pending approval)
If you've just registered a new business and are still waiting for approval, you won't have access to Live API keys yet. In the meantime, you can use Sandbox API keys to test the customer payment experience or try out our shipping solution.
Follow these steps:
Log in to the Montonio Partner System.
From the left-hand menu, go to Home page.
If your account has multiple stores, choose the relevant store from the drop-down menu.
On the right side, click Get API Keys.
Locate the Sandbox keys for testing and copy them. Then, enter the keys in your store’s module settings under the Sandbox environment configuration.
New store on an active account (pending approval)
If you have added a new store in the Partner System and the website is not yet ready to be activated, follow these instructions:
Log in to the Montonio Partner System.
Click Business settings → Stores in the left-hand menu.
Click on the name of your new store.
In the table on the right, find the API Keys section and click Go to API Keys.
Under Sandbox API Keys, copy the keys and enter them in your store’s module settings under Sandbox Environment Configuration.
Sandbox vs. Live keys
Sandbox and Live API keys work in different environments and can't be mixed. Using Sandbox keys in a Live environment (or Live keys in a Sandbox environment) will cause errors.
Testing? Use the Sandbox environment with Sandbox API keys. No real transactions or shipments are processed. Make sure Test mode is enabled in your store's settings.
Ready to accept real payments? Use the Live environment with Live API keys. Don't forget to turn off Test mode in your store's settings.
Once your business account or new store is activated, you'll gain access to Live API keys. You can view them on the same page by clicking View API keys.
