Safely test card payments before going live

To ensure everything is set up correctly, it’s important to test card payments in your store prior to accepting real payments. Follow the steps below to complete a test transaction safely.

1. Navigate to your website

First, confirm that your store’s Montonio settings are properly configured and that you are using the sandbox environment for testing.

Instructions on how to set up the sandbox environment can be found here: Settings up WooCommerce Sandbox Mode.

Once everything is configured, you’re ready to place a test order:

  • Go to your website.

  • Add a product to your cart and proceed to checkout.

  • Select the card payment option.

⚠️ Important: Make sure the product price is at least 0.50€. This ensures that the payment can be processed successfully.

2. Enter test card details

To test payments, you must use sandbox/test mode with your sandbox API keys. Use the example card number below to simulate transactions.

For additional test card numbers and scenarios, please refer to the Adyen documentation.

3. Custom integrations

If you are building a custom platform integration and want to use the embedded card flow, refer to our API documentation: Embedded Cards in Checkout.
