This article explains how to activate and create payment links in Montonio's Partner System. New to payment links? See how they differ from a regular checkout payment, or learn about the various use cases of payment links.

Activation

Payment links can be activated from the Partner System as a separate service. You only need to do this once per account.

Payment Links is a paid service, therefore service fee is based on your chosen package and business country. You can check it here.

  • Log into your Montonio account in the Partner System.

  • On the left-side menu, find the Payment Links tab and click on it.

  • Click Activate, you will be redirected to the activation page.

  • Find Payment Links and click Activate again.

Creating payment links

Once the service has been activated, you can create your first payment link. Click on the Payment Links tab on the left-side menu to start generating payment links.

In the top-right corner, click + New payment link.

Payment link fields

When creating a payment link, the following parameters can be specified:

Store

If you manage multiple stores, select which store the payment link should belong to.

Payment description

Indicate what the payment is for. This is what you and the customer will see in the bank statement.

Expiration date

Indicate until when the payment link should be valid.

Amount

The total amount the customer should pay. The amount is fixed and cannot be modified by the customer.

Currency

The currency you would like to receive.

Customer country

Enter your customer's country. This helps prioritise which country's banks are shown if the customer selects Pay with bank and which parcel machines will appear on the payment link.

Additional settings

You can further customise your payment link with the following optional settings:

Customer name and contact details

Once this box is checked, the customer will be required to enter their name and contact details before completing the payment.

One time payment link

Once checked, the payment link will automatically expire once it has been used.

Add shipping options

Once checked, if you are using our shipping solution and sell physical goods, the customer will also be able to choose their preferred delivery method.

Managing payment links

Once the link is created, there are additional settings you can manage.

Sharing options

Once the link is created, you have two options for sharing it with your customers:

  • Copy and share the payment URL. Use it in emails, text messages, or social media messages.

  • Share the QR code. Customers can scan it to initiate the payment easily.

Changing the expiry date

If you wish to extend the expiry date, you can easily do so. Navigate to Payment links tab, find the link that is either expired or still active, click on the row, then click Change expiration date.

Select the new date and click Confirm. The new date takes effect immediately.

Deactivating the link

If the payment link is no longer needed, it is possible to deactivate it. Find the link you wish to deactivate, click on the row, and in the top-right corner click the three dots, then Deactivate. The link will become inactive.
