Why does Revolut show a different store name on my customer's payment?

Affects: Card payments (including Apple Pay / Google Pay) via Revolut

What's happening?

Some customers paying with a Revolut card or wallet (including via Apple Pay or Google Pay) see an incorrect store name displayed in the Revolut app after checkout — for example, an unrelated business name instead of the merchant's actual store name.

The issue is on Revolut side and has been reported across different countries and several merchants. There is no apparent pattern except how Revolut reconciles merchant legal names.

Is the payment processed correctly?

Yes. This is a display-only issue in the Revolut app. The payment itself is processed correctly, and the funds are sent to the right store — not to the incorrectly named business. No money is lost or misdirected.

You can verify the correct store name by downloading the detailed transaction statement from Revolut, which also shows the name as sent by Montonio.

Why does this happen?

This is a known bug on Revolut's side in how they process and display merchant names for certain card transactions. It is not caused by your store settings or anything in the Montonio Partner System.

Montonio sends the correct store name with every transaction — the issue occurs when Revolut renders it on their end.

What can you or your customers do?

Revolut suggested that the most effective action right now is for their customers who made the payment to report it directly to Revolut. Revolut has confirmed that user reports help them prioritise and resolve merchant name mismatches.

How to report in the Revolut app:

  • Open the Revolut app

  • Find the transaction in question

  • Tap the three dots (⋯) in the top right corner

  • Select Improve merchant info

  • Submit the correct store name

Each report helps speed up the fix for future transactions.

Does this affect all payment methods?

No. This issue has been observed only with Revolut cards (including Revolut-linked Apple Pay / Google Pay). Other card networks and bank payment methods are not affected.

What if my customer thinks their money went to the wrong place?

Reassure them that the funds have gone to your store, not to the business shown in the Revolut app. The incorrect name is a display error. If they need further confirmation, they can check the detailed transaction statement available in the Revolut app, which reflects the name Montonio submitted.
