Since Montonio is operating in a regulated environment, there are some additional security requirements that we have to account for in our Partner System.

One of these is 2-factor authentication (2FA). That means that logging in with just a username and password are not considered secure enough and there needs to be additional layers of security.

Your mobile device provides that security. Your phone gives you a secondary layer of protection in case your username and password are stolen.

Whilst 2FA might sound complicated, it's not.

Here's how to set up 2FA:

  1. Download any authentication app from Google Play or Apple App Store. For instance, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, LastPass, Authy, etc

  2. Some actions in the Partner System require 2FA. For instance, when you're going to view (or re-generate your API keys) or when you're going to do a refund for the first time. Whenever the Partner System requires enabling 2FA, just open your authenticator app and scan the QR code. That registers Montonio Partner System as an account in your app

  3. In case you need to authenticate yourself in the Partner System, just open the authenticator app and insert the 6-digit code that is provided by the authenticator app

And there you go, you have successfully enabled and used 2FA.

NOTE! The authenticator app isn't tied to Montonio Partner System only. You can use the app for any other website or platform that requires 2-factor authentication.
