1. Parcely App configuration

Select Plan

Ensure you have selected a suitable plan. Shipping methods are counted per country for parcel lockers (e.g., Omniva in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania counts as three methods), but courier shipping counts as a single shipping method regardless of the number of countries.

Activate Shipping Methods

After selecting shipping methods (e.g., Omniva, Smartposti), ensure they are activated within the Parcely app settings.

Courier Activation

Courier options are selected and activated by simply checking a box in the app. Unlike parcel machines, couriers do not require the same mapping, as you will select the courier for each order via a dropdown menu in Shopify's order view.

Contract Integration

If you want to use your own contract (e.g., Omniva), you can activate it in Montonio Partner System very easily. Learn more here.

2. Shopify Shipping rate settings

  • Shipping Profiles: Use a single shipping profile in Shopify for all merchants to avoid complications.

  • Rate Naming (Crucial):

    • For parcel machines, the name in Shopify's shipping rates must be simple (e.g., "Omniva," not "Omniva parcel machine"). The Parcely app relies on consistent names for recognition. Adding descriptors or translating the name will break the functionality.

    • For couriers, the name can be whatever you want (e.g., "Omniva Courier") and can be translated, as it does not need to be mapped in the Parcely app.

  • Shipping Conditions:

    • For parcel machines, conditions can only be based on order sum or have no conditions at all. Conditions based on order weight cannot be mapped.

    • For couriers, conditions can be based on either order sum or order weight.

  • Country Availability: You must activate all necessary countries in your Shopify settings under Markets.

3. General Parcely App settings

  • Widget Deactivation: Deactivating the widget in general settings only hides it; it does not uninstall the app or stop you from recurring charges. You must uninstall the app in Shopify to stop being charged.

  • Hiding Widget for Specific Products: For virtual gift cards or oversized items, the widget can be hidden based on the product's vendor name. You can control whether the pickup point selection is shown when a gift card and an actual product are in the cart simultaneously.

Recommended Options

  • Set “Delivery to locker or pick-up point” as the first option: Selecting this checkbox will change the locker shipping method to be the first one in the Parcely widget.

  • Overwrite shipping address with locker or pick-up point address: Parcely app will overwrite the shipping address after the customer has passed through the checkout process. This functionality is mostly used by stores owners who automatically export all orders to 3rd party shipping management systems.

  • Enable shipping rate overwriting with pick-up point location information at checkout.

4. Shopify Checkout and Theme Modifications

  • Mandatory Phone Number: In Shopify's checkout settings, ensure the phone number field is mandatory for all orders, as it is crucial for parcel delivery.

  • Primary Contact: Change the primary customer contact method from "phone or email" to just "email".

  • Theme Modifications (Crucial for Pickup Points): "buy it now" buttons often bypass the cart page, preventing customers from selecting a parcel locker. Customers must be directed to the cart page for pickup point selection.

Theme Modification

Action

Accelerated Checkout Buttons

Disable the "dynamic checkout buttons" (or "accelerated pay buttons") on the product page and the cart page.

Cart Drawer/Notification

For themes like Horizon, change the cart type from "drawer" to "page". For older themes like Dawn, if you use a drawer or a pop-up notification with a "checkout" button, you may need to edit the theme code to hide it (e.g., in snippets/cart-notification.liquid and sections/cart-footer-main.liquid).

Checkout Button Delay

Set a 3-second delay for the checkout button in the cart page settings. This allows enough time for the Parcely widget to load.

To turn it on:

Go to Online store --> Themes --> Customize --> from the left “App embeds” --> turn on Parcely checkout delay.

Payment Buttons (e.g., PayPal)

Hide PayPal/dynamic payment buttons on the cart page by editing the code (in sections/cart-footer-main.liquid) to prevent them from bypassing the Shopify checkout.
